One of my favorite memories of Granny Granny is her ability to stay clam under pressure. We were racing in Almagordo when Austin was 3, Granny Granny and Grandpa had gone to help with the car and the baby. Austin got car sick about half way there and threw up in Granny's purse! She calmly took her things out wiped them off and put them in a new bag. Another Granny Granny and Austin moment was when we where driving passed McDonalds and Austin wanted to stop, and Granny said "smile and wave as we go by!" Austin was about 7 years old, he came home telling us home telling us how mean she was because she wouldn't feed him. He failed to mention she had cooked a big lunch for him and he had already eaten.
One of the last memories I have of Granny Granny and Grandpa together was again at the races in San Angelo. He had already been sick and it was probably the last time we raced in San Angelo. As we were leaving their house they stood on the porch and waved. And then walked to the yard and waved and then finally standing in the street waving as we pulled away. I remember thinking, dont look back! You will only cry all the way home. I didn't look back but I see them in my mind and cry everytime I think of it. That memory will forever be etched in my mind.
I love you Granny!
